Netflix: Spanish-Language Movie Reboot ‘Bird Box Barcelona’ Tops All Weekly Streamed Content Through July 23

The reboot of 2018 dystopian thriller Bird Box into Spanish-language Bird Box Barcelona, topped both the overall and most-streamed non-English language movies chart on Netflix with 19 million views for the week ended July 23.

Last week’s overall chart topper, The Out-Laws, retained the No. 1 position on the English-language movies chart for the third straight week with 12.1 million views. New documentaries Unknown: Cave of Bones and The Deepest Breath debuted on the movies chart at No. 2 and No. 5 with 6.5 million views and 4.6 million views, respectively.

They Cloned Tyrone, the new feature film starring John Boyega, Teyonah Parris and Jamie Foxx, debuted at No. 3 on the movie chart with 6.3 million views. Extraction 2 continued its chart run for the sixth week with 3.8 million views, while the animated Nimona spent its fifth week on the chart with 3.4 million views.

On the non-English language movie chart, Mexico’s The (Almost) Legends debuted at No. 4 with 2.8 million views, along with Turkey’s Love Tactics 2 (5.2 million views), the French drama Gold Brick (2.7 million views), Poland’s Mr. Car and the Knights Templar (2.6 million views), and the Filipino romance Seasons (1.3 million views). 

Sweet Magnolias jumped to the top of the English TV list with 4.6 million views. Both seasons of “The Lincoln Lawyer” held their spots on the list with season two coming in at No. 2 (4.6 million views) and season one at No. 9 (2.1 million views).

Returning charters included season three of “The Witcher” (4.2 million views), season five of “Too Hot to Handle” (4.1 views), “Survival of the Thickest” (3.8 million views), “Fatal Seduction” (3.2 million views), and “Quarterback” (2.9 million views). 

Notably, “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” did not register in the Top 10, but it did generate enough views to enter Netflix’s Most Popular chart at No. 10 with more than 80.3 million views to date. 

Finally, the Korean drama “King the Land” dominated the non-English language TV chart again in its sixth week on the chart with 4.7 million views. The Indian thriller “Kohrra” debuted at No. 3 with 2.4 million views. Returning favorites included Japanese series “Burn the House Down” (3.5 million views), “My Happy Marriage” (2.1 million views), and “Record of Ragnarok” season two (1.5 million views); Korea’s “Celebrity” (1.8 million views) and “See You in my 19th Life” (1.5 million views); and Mexico’s “The Surrogacy” with 1.4 million views.
