Disney-owned Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 grabbed the No. 1 position on the chart of the 10 most-popular films on Fandango’s transactional digital service Vudu the week ended July 9.

The sci-fi comic book movie from director James Gunn achieved the top spot after just two days of availability, having been released into digital channels July 7.  In the film, the Guardians must scramble to save their furry pal Rocket from the genocidal geneticist who created him.

The previous week’s top title, Universal Pictures’ The Super Mario Bros. Movie, dropped a spot to No. 2. The animated blockbuster, based on the Nintendo video game franchise, has been available for regular digital purchase since June 13.

Another Universal title, the actioner Fast X, fell a spot to No. 3 on the chart. It’s the 11th installment in the “Fast & Furious” speeding cars franchise, and the 10th in the primary series headlined by Vin Diesel (who has appeared in all but the second film and the “Hobbs & Shaw” spinoff).

No. 4 was Lionsgate’s The Blackening, a horror spoof about a group of black friends who reunite for a Juneteenth weekend getaway only to find themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a twisted killer. It became available for PVOD viewing July 7.

Rounding out the top five Vudu sellers was the Lionsgate actioner John Wick: Chapter 4. It’s available for digital rental and purchase. The fourth entry in the series follows Wick as he uncovers a path to defeating the High Table. But before he can earn his freedom, he must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe, and forces that turn old friends into foes.
