The new releases of July 18 didn’t spark much promotional interest from retailers.
Best Buy focused more on a seasonal promotion with a sale under the tag line “Save up to 40% on select films for summer movie nights,” with a note in fine print that the “minimum savings is 7%.” Titles included Back to the Future: The Ultimate Trilogy Blu-ray, Caddyshack on Blu-ray, and Field of Dreams on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray.
Meanwhile, Walmart is taking preorders for upcoming exclusive editions of Disney releases The Little Mermaid and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 — 4K Blu-ray combo packs with unique box art and an enamel pin included for $34.96 each. Guardians arrives Aug. 1 and Mermaid Sept. 19.
