Netflix’s cult favorite sci-fi series “Stranger Things” is set to end following the fifth season, the endcap to the streamer’s most-viewed English language show that began in 2016 from creators The Duffer Bros.

Now, Netflix has reportedly approved development of an animated series based on the show’s storyline from executive producer Eric Robles and the Duffer Bros., among others.

“We’ve always dreamed of an animated ‘Stranger Things’ in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling,” The Duffer Bros. wrote in a statement. “We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues.”

“Stranger Things 4” has been generated more than 1.35 billion hours of streaming viewing in the program’s first 28 days — just ahead of No. 2 all-time series, “Wednesday,” with 1.23 billion hours.
